Guidelines for Large Format Printing

The Willary Water Resource center has a DesignJet plotter that is capable of printing posters up to 3x6 ft.  This plotter is solely used for the operational needs of the Center; the Center is not a commercial printer.

The Center does, however, support professor authorized, scientific poster production for students enrolled in the Water Resource Management (WRM) Program at Keystone College.  The following guidelines are intended for use by WRM students preparing for their senior research poster presentation.  We ask for you to review them prior to the start of your poster:

General Information

  • Understand exactly what the poster dimensions are for your assignment.  Our limiting factor is the poster width; being limited to a maximum of 35 inches of print space on a 36 inches wide roll of paper

  • Our preferred printing software is either MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, or PDF.  These formats work well with the plotter, however, be sure the page setup is set to the proper dimensions.  Use the templates listed under Keystone College specific templates to the right.  When you open the template it will contain limited instructions.

  • Students must setup an appointment for printing by contacting Tim Eichner at 945-8550 or by e-mail.  It will take approximately one-hour to print each poster.  All printing must be completed prior to the day before the due-date of the poster (e.g. if it is due on Friday, the last day of printing is Wednesday).  This will help ensure that all posters will be completed by the due date.

Proof Before You Submit

  • No proofing or design assistance is provided by the Center.  Posters submitted must be ready to print

  • Proof your work carefully, word by word, line by line

  • Don't rely on spell check. It's worthwhile to have several people proof your poster before submitting it for printing

  • Mistakes submitted for printing become your responsibility and re-printing to correct mistakes is charged at $30 per poster

Submitting Your File for Printing

  • You must submit your files in person; e-mails will not be accepted due to the likely large size of the files.  You can place your posters on CD, USB flash drive, or to your network space.  Be sure that your file name contains your name.
